'Persona 5' release date, game updates: website updated with new screenshots

Sony's Japanese website for the PlayStation was recently updated with fresh screenshots from the upcoming "Persona 5" title.

A dedicated page was set up by PlayStation Japan for "Persona 5," and the page has been loaded with fresh screenshots from the game's development. However, it seems that the images are a combination of screengrabbed pieces from the game's trailer, and the others were taken directly from the game's official website. The collection of images showcases the upcoming title's lush colors, a stylish menu system for combat and exploration, different areas to be explored, and some of the characters. One of the images also shows Arsene, the main protagonist's persona.

Meanwhile, "Persona 5" is reported to be making an appearance at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo. According to rumors, the game's developer Atlus is gearing up for a major announcement at the annual E3 event, which will start on June 16 and will end on June 18, with the Los Angeles Convention Center in California as this year's location.

The fifth "Shin Megami Tensei: Persona" title will revolve around the life of a bespectacled high school boy, yet to be named. However, the main protagonist's school days would be punctuated with somewhat delinquent situations complete with combat style unique to the game and area exploration.

As director Katsuhara Hashino said to Gematsu, "This time around, though, the protagonists of Persona 5 themselves are on the run for doing what they think is right after something happens completely out of the blue. That mixture of thrills and not-so-larger-than-life cast of characters is what composes the idea of 'academy juveniles' for us."

"Persona 5" is slated for a 2015 release both in Japan and North America. The title will be made available for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
