Paris Games Week recap: Sony holds press conference and pre-show

Sony held a press conference during the Paris Games Week (PGW) which included announcements for the future of the PlayStation community.

Convention goers noticed that back in the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2017, Sony somehow held back with their announcements. Although, the new "Spider-Man" game's gameplay trailer quelled the curiosity of gamers and fans.

Among the announcements that came from Sony was their experimental project called PlayStation Move. Also taking the spotlight during the conference was Play Link as well as PlayStation Virtual Reality (PSVR). Since Spider-Man headlined E3, fans received new updates and trailers from "God of War" and "The Last of Us: Part II."

PlayStation loyalists also received announcements about price drops for the PS4 Slim. These announcements were great to hear since the holiday season is just around the corner. The console is usually listed at $299.99, but price drop will make it go as low $249.99.

Sony announced new updates for their PSVR department. With a new and improved VR unit released, the next step was announcing a list of new games to come along with the hardware. Among the new titles, these included "Doom VR," "Justice League VR," "Gran Turismo Sport," and "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR." These games are just a few of which Sony plans to release this year. As for next year's releases, the titles for 2018 include "Blasters of the Universe," "Dragonflight VR," "Golem," and "Dungeon Chess."

Guerilla Games' front liner "Horizon: Zero Dawn" also revealed new updates for its expansion, "The Frozen Wild."

PS4 has always been a great platform for indie games, and it is showing no signs of stopping its support to the small scale game developers. "A Hat in Time" and "Golf Story" were just the first two indie titles to make an appearance at the PGW 2017.
