The author of the memoir from which the hit TV series "Orange Is The New Black" is based, hinted that the upcoming third season will be full of "really amazing stories and twists and turns."
Memoir author Piper Kerman trickled very little insider info on what should be anticipated in the new season of the women prison drama. She did say that season 3 will feature back stories of some of the characters as well as the addition of new cast members who will weave a new intricate inter-connecting narrative.
Kerman serves as a consultant for the show where she reads the scripts and offers her advice to the cast and crew on how to make the scenes more realistic. However, Kerman has held her tongue from issuing major spoilers about the "Orange Is The New Black" season 3.
Kerman spoke in front of over 400 students, faculty members and fans at the University of Massachusetts in Lowell where she said that season 3 will revolve more on the faith of the characters.
She also commented on the news that her ex-lover and friend Cleary Wolters, whose Alex Vause character was based on, signed a book deal to narrate her own experiences during the time she served in jail.
"I expect that my ex-lover's book will be a fascinating read. She's had a very different life, and her story is very different from mine. For one thing, she was much more involved in narcotics trafficking, and for the other thing she served a lot more time in prison than I did," Associated Press cited Kerman.
Meanwhile, Kerman said that the filming of season 3 is halfway done. However, she did not confirm the release date of the series' third season.
"Orange Is The New Black" follows the story of a woman who served time in federal prison after she was arrested for carrying a suitcase filled with drug money for her ex-girlfriend.
Although Piper Kerman is flattered with the reception for her memoir as well as its small screen adaptation, she said that she would not have done what she did if she would be given a chance to make things right. She said that she hurt her family and friends with her incarceration.
Kerman is now an advocate for reforms of the criminal justice system.
