"Once Upon a Time" season 5 is currently enjoying its midseason break but when it returns, it will bring in newcomer Teri Reeves to play an older version of Dorothy Gale, the main character in "The Wizard of Oz." According to TVLine, Dorothy has since grown up and is now a "brave warrior for good."
This is not the first time Dorothy was in the series. Several seasons back Dorothy was then portrayed by Matreya Scarrwener. Her last appearance was in the season 3 episode "Kansas," where she finally was able to return to the Heartland.
According to the report, Dorothy will now return to Oz as an adult and is intent on saving the magical Emerald City from the "most wicked of witches." However, she will not be able to accomplish her goals without the aid of new friends and unlocking a potential power that is dormant within her.
Reeves's previous credits include her stint on "Chicago Fire," "Castle," "NCIS," "Scandal" and "Three Rivers."
"Once Upon a Time" will return after its midseason break with episode 12, titled "Souls of the Departed." Dorothy Gale, however, will not be making her appearance until episode 16 which at this point is untitled.
For the meantime, Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and the rest of the crew will go on a journey to bring back Captain Hook (Colin O'Donoghue). Hook sacrificed himself to premanently get rid of the Darkness residing in him. The official synopsis posted on IBTimes reads as follows:
"The quest to find Hook will begin as the town of Storybrooke becomes the underworld where everyone you thought was dead and buried, is alive and kicking!"
It is likely that following the resurrection of Hook the rest of the crew will follow Zelena (Rebecca Mader) to Oz, where Zelena intends on reuniting and gaining complete custody over her daughter. It is speculated that at this point Dorothy will become a central figure in the season's story.
