Sony's Xperia Z4 may be a no-show at the upcoming Mobile World Congress as latest rumors are claiming that the company will not hold a formal press conference at the trade show.

The MWC will take place from March 2 to 5 in Barcelona but the Japanese OEM manufacturer will not hold the usual big keynote at the event unlike in previous years. Instead, the company will participate but with a lower profile by opening a booth in the venue, according to Xperia Blog

The Sony-centric blog added that the tech firm will reveal its latest news during the event. Although the report did not mention whether or not Sony will unveil the Xperia Z4, the lack of major announcements hints that the flagship smartphone will not make an appearance during the exhibit.

Past rumors and previous releases suggested that the Xperia Z4 will be launched at the MWC next month since Sony is known to update the Xperia Z line every six months. Now, there are reports pointing to a summer release to give more time for the Sony Xperia Z3 to maximize its sales and profits.

There are also rumors saying that Sony is selling its mobile arm and it is probably taking its time in creating its next smartphone, focusing on the quality of the device rather than releasing a smartphone with minor upgrades.

The upcoming Sony Xperia Z4 is purported to feature either aquad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) or a full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. Under the hood, the device is rumored to pack Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 SoC, Adreno 420, 4 GB of RAM, Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, 24-megapixel back camera with dual LED flash and 12-megapixel front-facing camera. The Xperia Z line's unique features such as PlayStation Remote Play and IP68 certification for water and dust resistance are also expected to be thrown in the mix.

Sony has not revealed the official specs and features of the handset yet.
