Very little information has been released thus far concerning the Nintendo NX except for the fact that Nintendo is indeed working on it alongside mobile devleoper DeNA. However, as per a report from IGN, it now appears that the console may be designed with the capability of working with other consoles, PCs and smart phones.

Reporter Takashi Mochizuki of The Wall Street Journal recently posted via Twitter that the Nintendo NX will work with other devices, including rival consoles such as the PS4 and Xbox One.

According to IGN, this information comes directly from Macquarie Capital Securities Head of Research David Gibson in Japan and no direct source is provided, which means fans looking forward to the Nintendo NX should take information as a mere rumor at this point as Nintendo has not yet confirmed the details.

However, another source implying that the Nintendo NX may indeed feature such capabilities was posted by Twitter user Liam Robertson, who took a snapshot of a survey from GFK, a client for Nintendo. The survey points to seamlessly switching the gameplay from the NX console to an NX handheld device.

This indicates that the NX won't just be a home console but a hybrid of a console and a handheld gaming device. While it may only work solely for Nintendo products this may be an indication of the NX working in conjunction with other devices as well, such as smart phones and the PS4 or Xbox One wireless controller.

At this point, however, Nintendo has not yet released any information regarding the Nintendo NX and all the details posted should still be cosidered as pure speculations. When IGN attempted to reach out to Nintendo regarding the rumors, the company only replied with "We have nothing to announce on this topic."

Nintendo's response is neither confirmation nor denial of the rumors stated and it is expected that the next Nintendo Direct may finally shed some light on the console's features and release date.
