The upcoming Nexus smartphone, dubbed as the Nexus X or Nexus 6, is believed to be Google's new flagship Android smartphone and is expected to be unveiled this October or November.
Codenamed as Motorola Shamu, 9to5Google has reported that the Nexus 6 might follow the design of the Moto X but will be larger and heavier, probably having the same size as the iPhone 6 Plus or even bigger, allowing users to easily distinguish the device as a phablet.
If the latest buzz is true, the Nexus 6 will be the largest smartphone of Google as it is expected to be incorporated with a 5.9-inch display that will boast a 2560 x 1440 resolution, thereby becoming slightly bigger than the Galaxy Note 4 that has a 5.7-inch display. A 13-megapixel rear camera has also been rumored to come with the upcoming Nexus device.
For its release date, reports have now been looking into past release dates of the Nexus 6's predecessors. The last two devices, the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5, were released on Nov. 12, 2012 and Oct. 13, 2013, respectively.
Based on these dates, Google is expected to set a Nexus 6 launching in the fourth quarter of this year. Moreover, Google's senior vice president, Sundar Pichai, has already stated earlier on that the Nexus 6 will not be unveiled in the first half of the year.
As such, it has become a possibility that Google may be launching the upcoming device this October or in November alongside the unveiling of the Android L (Lollipop).
According to TK Tech News, the Nexus 6 may come with a starting price of $524. Furthermore, the IB Times has suggested that Google may seek to retain a price below $480 for the new Nexus smartphone, although prices may be significantly affected by the hardware that has been used.
The Nexus 6 is expected to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and 3 GB of RAM. With a 64-bit chip, it becomes more likely that the device will run on Android L. The new Nexus smartphone may also come with an impressive 3,200 mAh battery and may even be integrated with the Turbo Charger technology from Motorola. This will enable Nexus 6 users to charge their phones for only 15 minutes and enjoy up to eight hours of battery life.
If the Nexus 6 is launched between October and November, highly anticipating fans can expect the device to be almost immediately be made available on Google Play Store.
