New MacBook Pro 2015 release needed as old models continue to suffer from video issues

There is a need for the release of a new MacBook Pro as some existing models in the laptop line still suffer from video issues.

A few batches of the previous MacBook Pro models are experiencing either distorted or scrambled videos and images, blank screens, and constant crashes. According to Apple, only "a small percentage of MacBook Pro systems" are faulty and showing the aforementioned symptoms.

Still, due to the issues, Apple now offers the "Repair Extension Program" that enables users to address the problem. Users have to enter the hardware serial number to ensure that the model is included in the faulty batches. After the online verification of the eligibility of the MacBook Pro, the user needs to run a final diagnostic test to restore the model.

The "Repair Extension Program" is now running and the whole world will follow suit on Feb. 27. The program will run until Feb. 27, 2016 or three years from the original date of sale of the MacBook Pro, "whichever provides longer coverage."

Meanwhile, speculations are rife about an upcoming MacBook Pro 2015 model. According to the grapevine, it will retain the form factor and design of its predecessor, but consumers will be treated to a faster processor as the laptop's main feature is Intel's new Broadwell chipset. Moreover, the device will also reportedly include a USB Type-C port, replacing all conventional ports in the laptop. These features will yield to a fanless and lighter design.

It is said that the upcoming MacBook Pro will be offered in two screen variants, with the 13-inch model retaining 8 GB RAM, while the 15-inch version staying with 16 GB. The screen panel will reportedly feature a 4K screen display with touchscreen feature. In addition, the laptop is said to include a TouchID fingerprint sensor to be embedded in the improved TrackPad. Lastly, the device will be supported by a better battery capacity.

However, Apple has not given any official comment regarding the device.
