The Moto X 2015 is purported to be released on Feb. 25.

According to various media sources, Motorola sent out notes to the press saying that an event will take place on the aforementioned date although the company did not reveal the details of the event. The Lenovo-owned company teased that it will make "an exciting announcement." Moreover, the media outlets were informed that "everything you need fits inside one box."

There is no clue on what the company will release after it recently took the veil off the 2015 Moto E and Moto G with 4G capabilities. This sparked speculations that Motorola might, once again, update its Moto X handset.

Earlier this month, Twitter user and Sony tipster Ricciolo leaked that Motorola has plans of unveiling a major smartphone soon.

"Are you looking for a FLAGSHIP 'SMARTER' than any others 'smartphones'??? I can give you an 'HINT'... Coming Soon..." the Twitter post reads.

The tipster did not disclose any information about the smartphone and the imminent launch date of the device.

There are whispers that the successor to the current Moto X will make an appearance at the upcoming Mobile World Congress next week. However, the company may want to have a head start on its rivals by revealing its own flagship smartphone a week earlier.

The Moto X (2014) was announced in September and it features a 5.2-inch Full HD screen display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC clocked at 2.5 GHz and an Adreno 330 graphics co-processor paired with 3 GB RAM. The handset has 32 GB of internal storage and 2300 mAh battery juice. It sports a 13-megapixel rear shooter with dual LED flash and 4K video capture with a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The smartphone came out with the Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS, but started receiving the 5.0 Lollipop OS update.

Apart from the invitation, there is no confirmation from Motorola about its upcoming plans.
