The Lumia 650 may very well be the next phone Microsoft introduces to the public.

The new renders come courtesy of Windows Central and @PhoneDesigner, and they were reportedly extracted from internal Microsoft slides.

It's worth noting that the newly leaked renders of the Lumia 650 are not believed to be official, although they should give folks a good idea of what to expect when the new phone is eventually launched.

Aside from renders of the Lumia 650 making their way online, the new phone's specs have also been revealed.

According to NDTV, the new Microsoft phone is expected to feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 212 SoC along with an Adreno 304 Graphics Processing Unit (GPU).

When it comes to memory, the Lumia 650 is expected to have 16 GB of RAM along with 8 GB of internal storage. The phone is also rumored to feature microSD card support for those who will need more space.

The Lumia 650 will reportedly feature an 8-megapixel rear camera along with one up front that provides five megapixels.

The new phone will also reportedly have a 5-inch HD display.

If the rumored specs of the Lumia 650 don't seem to stack up to the higher-end releases coming from other companies, there seems to be a reason for that.

Microsoft reportedly has plans to promote the Lumia 650 as a low-cost alternative for companies looking for a phone that they can hand out to their employees. Featuring more advanced specs would have likely made it untenable for Microsoft to still position the phone as a more cost-effective offering.

News of the Lumia 650 now nearing a possible launch may also come as a surprise to some, since there were reports suggesting that plans for the phone had been scrapped.

That no longer appears to be the case, and the Lumia 650 may hit the market sometime between January and February 2016.
