'Mega Man' news: New cartoon reportedly coming out just in time for franchise's 30th anniversary

It was announced last year that Capcom will be releasing a brand-new cartoon series set in the "Mega Man" universe. As stated in a report from Rockman-Corner, it now appears that the project is indeed moving forward now that a new logo has been spotted on the official website of Dentsu Entertainment USA.

Dentsu is known for working on several series such as "Bleach," "Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos," "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex" and several "Naruto Shippuden" projects. According to the report, the studio's North American website has relevealed a new logo which is speculated to be for the upcoming "Mega Man" cartoon series.

It is undetermined at this point if the logo is the official logo for the new series or if it is merely a placeholder until the studios come up with a final design.

However, it is further speculated that this new logo indicates that the project is already in motion and that it may be released to coincide with the 30th anniversary of "Mega Man," which is in December 2017. It is possible that the new cartoon series will premiere earlier than that, given that the script is already being worked on.

The Dentsu USA website reveals that the new series will likely follow the events of the classic "Mega Man" series and not the "X" or "Zero" series that followed. The studio has also brought in writers who have worked on the Emmy Award-winning series "Ben 10," indicating that the new cartoon will have more substance to it than the original cartoon from the 1990s.

According to a report from Destructoid, the news of the cartoon series' development hints that Capcom may be planning something big for the "Mega Man" franchise, which has been lying dormant for recent years, particularly after the departure of Keiji Inafune and the cancellation of several games, including "Mega Man Legends 3."
