'Mass Effect Andromeda' release date: EA says trailer is definitely coming soon

Mass Effect: Andromeda EA, Bioware

Ever since "Mass Effect Andromeda" was unveiled, very little of the game has been shown to the public. The game was absent during E3 and during the recent Gamescom, making many to wonder if it was behind schedule. Fortunately, EA Executive Vice President Patrick Soderlund has confirmed this is not the case.

In an interview with Game Informer, Soderlund confirmed that the game was not behind schedule and that it was, in fact, right on schedule. This would mean it would be able to hit their target release window in 2017. Soderlund also explained that at the time being they would want to focus on EA's other big titles before shifting the focus to "Mass Effect Andromeda."

The company is currently focusing on both "Titanfall 2" and "Battlefield 1" which are due to release before the end of the year. It is important to note that EA is not the developer of the game but the publisher. Bioware is still the developer of the "Mass Effect" games.

Soderlund did state that a trailer would be on the way and many fans assume one will be release on Nov. 7 which is viewed by many as "Mass Effect Day" or N7 Day since it is a play on the N7 militant group in the games.

"You'll get your first look at gameplay in the not too distant future," Soderlund explained. "I played through the first three hours of the game. It's very playable, and there is no alarm about, 'Why aren't they showing it?' It's strictly that the game will get the right type of exposure at the right time and that we can the right voice for it."

During the interview Soderlund also hinted that a remaster of the original "Mass Effect" trilogy may be released soon. He did not make any confirmations but he did explain that the company is actively looking into it now that they know the fans really want one. An HD remaster of the original three games would be a good way to market the upcoming fourth game as well.

"Mass Effect Andromeda" is releasing for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC in 2017.
