Macbook Pro 2016 release date, specs news update: September launch now indefinite

MacBook Pro 2015, the current model available Apple

The new MacBook Pro is expected to be released this coming September as Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 7 as well as a few new products on Sept. 7. However, a report from MacWorld states that it is possible the laptop will be delayed and will not launch as originally scheduled.

According to the report, the laptop might be delayed as Apple waits for the release of the Intel Kaby Lake processor. The Kaby Lake processor is not scheduled to release until early 2017 and it is possible this means the MacBook Pro is going to be delayed from September this year to a period between March and June 2017.

Several new features that are rumored to be integrated into the laptop could also be the cause of a delay. The report states that the upcoming model may feature a brand new type of trackpad that is compatible with the Apple Pencil as well as power button Touch ID features.

A report from iTech Post points out that the last iteration of the MacBook Pro was launched back in early 2015 and even then the model featured very few improvements for the aging laptop. A new, more powerful processor such as the Kaby Lake may give the MacBook Pro the boost it needs to compete with its rivals.

It was previously reported that the delayed launch of the Kaby Lake processors is also why the Microsoft Surface Book 2 might be delayed as well. If this proves true then the two competing brands will go head-to-head against each other in 2017.

However, consumers should be wary as the information has not been verified by Apple and there is no guarantee that the company is even planning on launching a new MacBook Pro any time soon. It is possible the laptop will launch this September, in early 2017 or never at all.
