New MacBook Air with Retina display release date in June at World Wide Developers Conference?

MacBook Air 2014 in two sizes Apple

Ever since the MacBook Air with Retina display skipped its predicted releases a few times last year, the rollout date of the device has been a guessing game for consumers and tech enthusiasts. Now, reports are saying that the laptop, which presumably will go through a major update, will get its much-needed attention at the Worldwide Developers' Conference in June.

According to PC Advisor, theMacBook Air with Retina display will also be available on the same day it is launched. However, in case of an unprecedented problem like a delay on the supply of Retina display or Intel's latest generation chipset, the device could be shipped by the end of June or early July.

A previous report from Taiwanese news website DigiTimes reckoned that the new MacBook Air is currently in production and Apple is ramping up the manufacturing of the device. Taiwan-based manufacturer Quanta Computer reportedly had a mass hiring recently to keep up with the demands and orders of the Cupertino-based tech giant.

Meanwhile, some are guessing that Apple will quietly slip the MacBook Air in the market, similar to what it did last year. In April 2014, Apple released a MacBook Air with an upgraded Intel Haswell processor without much hype. The company may do the same this year. This, of course, depends on the upgrades and new features that will be included in the new MacBook Air.

As for the specs and features of the device, the forthcoming laptop is purported to feature a 12-inch screen display, nestled between the product line's current 11-inch and 13-inch variants. Other predicted features are Intel's Broadwell chip and USB 3.0 Type-C that yield to a fanless design and thinner body for the laptop.

Apple has not yet revealed any detail about the MacBook Air, but official specs and features will be known soon if the rumored release date proves to be true.
