When Apple had their recent event launching the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPad Pro, noticeably missing were the MacBook Air 2016 and MacBook Pro 2016. It is heavily speculated that they will release in early 2016, yet reports are now indicating that they might be released in time for the holidays at the end of this year.

According to a report from Venture Capital Post, both laptops may see a late 2015 release instead of being delayed to January or February 2016. The Christmas shopping fever may be a factor for this release schedule as it would give a big boost in sales. However, it is also stated in the report that Apple has yet to confirm or deny this rumor.

The Latinos Post reports that there may be several reasons why Apple has been delaying the release of the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. One reason cited is to give room to the iPad Pro, which is set to release this November, in order to avoid Apple's products competing among themselves.

It is also reported that the delay may be due to Apple carefully observing its competition, primarily Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 and the recently launched Microsoft Surface Book. It is possible that the MacBook Air 2016 and MacBook Pro 2016 are avoiding a simultaneous launch with their competitors.

The report also states that Apple may be waiting for  their latest OS, OS X El Capitan, to be further improved so that both the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro may be bundled with the latest version, already rid of most bugs and problems.

In relation to this, Apple has released the latest OS X 10.11.1 update, which improves installer stability with OS X El Capitan, improved compatibility with Microsoft Office 2016, several bug fixes for Mail, and the addition of over 150 new Emoji. These improvements may be bundled in with both laptops when they officially launch.
