LG news: LG G Stylo receives Android Marsmallow, LG G3 Marshmallow update hoax

The LG G Stylo has started receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update via an over-the-air release last Dec. 28.

According to an official document posted by Sprint, the stylus-inclusive handset LG G Stylo is now receiving an update for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow mobile operating system from the carrier, bumping the software version for the LG phablet up to LS770ZV7.

LG further adds that the update will be released OTA in stages and can take several days for delivery, so users are prompted to check back every so often if the update does not come up the first time they check. Users can do so by heading over to the Menu and then pressing on the Software update Icon or going to Settings and then to Phone Info.

The LG G Stylo, launched back in May 2015, is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 and has a quad-core CPU and Adreno 306 GPU. It sports a 5.7-inch HD IPS touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, and the surface is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The internal memory is set at 8 GB, and RAM at 1 GB. The back-facing camera has 8 megapixels while the front one has 5 megapixels.

The firmware update coming to the G Stylo brings an array of Marshmallow goodies to the handset including Doze Mode that improves battery life through smarter standbys, access to Android Pay, better fingerprint scanners, Google Now on Tap, better user interface experiences and many more.

In other related news, reports of the LG G3 getting an update to upgrade the phone firmware to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow in Poland have been proven to be false. GSM Arena reports that a photo spreading around of LG representative Jaroslav Bukowski was a fake.

Poland has long been known to be LG's testing region for firmware before releasing it to the rest of the LG world.
