Samsung Galaxy Note Edge may have another contender as reports claim that the LG G Flex 2 is bound for release at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show. The tip came from a very unlikely source – Qualcomm.

Qualcomm tweeted a photo of a device, which it teased to be powered by the company's Snapdragon 800. Surprisingly, the tweet spread like wildfire along with speculations that the device is the update of LG's G Flex smartphone. Some tech websites noted that the device has metal-like finish that is seen in LG smartphones as well as the noticeable back-mounted power and volume buttons.

However, LG has not provided even the slightest hint that it will release the LG G Flex 2 at the event. The company originally pegged the release of the smartphone in 2014 but that somehow did not push through.

LG G Flex is surprisingly one of the best smartphones revealed in 2013. A lot of tech websites have given the smartphone a thumbs up citing that it is an impressive piece of technology. Moreover, it is one of the first devices to feature a curved screen display, although the G Flex was released to test the waters if the public would like the concept of curved displays in smartphones.

When Samsung Galaxy Note Edge with its extended screen on the right side was released in September, reports said that the market favored the Note Edge over its brother, the Note 4. This proves that consumers like curved screen panels.

Meanwhile, the current LG G Flex boasts a 6-inch screen display, quad-core Snapdragon 800 SoC, Adreno 330, 2 GB of RAM, 13-megapixel back camera and 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, and 3500 mAh battery pack. LG has not confirmed the LG G Flex 2 rumors, but consumers will eventually know about the successor of LG G Flex once the CES kicks off next week.
