'Legends of Tomorrow' season 2 news: 2 new characters to join team

 The CW

"Legends of Tomorrow" is going to get a bigger roster of superheroes in season 2. Not only is the series going to go in a new direction following the finale of season 1, but it will also add two new regular members to the cast. According to TV Line, one is an African-American female from the 1940s and the other is a male "Han Solo-type" with powers.

According to the report, the male actor the studios are looking for should be in his 20s to 30s and will portray a character who, for the majority of his life, was overshadowed by the legacy of his grandfather who fought in World War II. This all changes when he develops super powers, enabling him to live up to his family's legacy.

It is further explained that throughout his life the character developed a Han Solo-type of personality as a means of masking his own disappointment. This hints that the character will have a carefree persona partnered with the fondness for instinctively rushing into situations without thinking.

The female is said to be the perfect soldier given that she had to work twice as hard in order to be accepted. This is because she hails from the 1940s and she was often ridiculed or looked down upon due to her race and gender. However, she does blame herself for the death of a comrade, one she had feelings for but never got the chance to admit it to.

According to Cinema Blend, this indicates that the female character may develop a strong need for vengeance and, like Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) in season 1, she will do everything possible to go back in time and prevent the death of the person she loved.

The report also points out that these two will mark a change in the series as the second season shifts away from a plot that focuses solely on taking down one villain. This change is stated to take place due to the events that will occur in the season 1 finale.

"Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 will premiere this fall.
