'Left 4 Dead 3' news: Game to be showcased at E3?

The last game in the "Left 4 Dead" series launched as far back as 2009 and fans have been anticipating a third entry ever since. Although Valve has yet to make any official announcements regarding a potential "Left 4 Dead 3," a report from Master Herald states that rumors suggest the game will be unveiled during this year's E3.

The Electronic Entertainment Expo is often used as a platform to showcase upcoming video games and new gaming technology, making it an ideal platform for the company to reveal "Left 4 Dead 3."

According to the report, if this indeed pushes through then it is likely that the game will launch for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017. However, this will depend on the fiscal report of Valve as the current fiscal year should include "Left 4 Dead 3." If it does not then the game will launch beyond April 2017 as part of the next fiscal year.

Rumors of the game being in active development spread when the official website for Turtle Rock Studios posted several job openings, some for a brand new IP and others for existing titles. However, as stated by Master Herald, this would not affect the likelihood of "Left 4 Dead 3" coming out given that Valve now has total control over the series.

With Turtle Rock Studios no longer involved, only Valve may give the official word regarding development of the game. Despite this, several leaks have indicated that the company is indeed completing a new entry in the franchise. A previous report reveals several leaks showcasing potential characters and stages in the game.

The report also points out that Valve is prioritizing "Left 4 Dead 3" over "Half-Life 3" due to the former's focus on multiplayer gameplay. While "Half-Life 3" is popular, it remains primarily as a single-player experience with multiplayer options tacked on, and for this reason its development and launch is placed behind that of "Left 4 Dead 3."
