Elastic Games finally has an answer to fans anticipating the release of its horror-multiplayer "Last Year: The Nightmare." The game developer is now dropping its indie co-op game at PAX East this 2018 -- the first step in fully releasing the game on its target platform.
According to the announcement, "Last Year: The Nightmare" will be a hands-on demo during the April event. Players will be able to get a feel of the game by attending PAX East 2018, which will run from the 5th of April to the 8th.
In line with the confirmation, the game is slated for a release on the PC platform sometime this summer. News about possible ports to major consoles, such as the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, is yet to be revealed by Elastic Games.
Storyline-wise, the game will be set in 1996 during an eerie Halloween party-turned-brutal killing-spree. Five high school students will then be dragged into the slasher-themed title and will be facing off against the merciless killer.
Gameplay-wise, "Last Year: The Nightmare" is a multiplayer title wherein six players can simultaneously play. They will be divided into the roles of killer and the five students.
The user who is assigned as the killer will have to find the other players and exact his deadly plans. Meanwhile, the remaining five have to escape and put into motion the roles they have been given to ultimately survive the bloodbath.
For some, this setup might seem a little bit unfair for the player tasked to take on the role of killer. But Elastic Games indicated that the killer will be granted a unique ability of appearing anywhere in-game, which practically balances out the overall scheme of the upcoming horror title.
