Lady Gaga "Applause" VMA performance VIDEO (FULL) 2013

Lady Gaga performed her brand new single "Applause" at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 25 from her yet-to-be-released new album "Artpop,"

Lady Gaga's performance was the opening number at the electrifying award show this weekend.

Lady Gaga's comeback performance of her latest single was highly anticipated after she abruptly cancelled her "Born this Way Ball" tour in February this year following a labral tear on her right hip. She underwent hip surgery on Feb. 20 and has since been recovering,

"Applause" was released to mainstream radio stations on Aug. 12. and officially released on Aug. 19.

The "Paparazzi" singer's third album is set to release Nov. 11., almost two and a half years after her second studio album, "Born This Way," which was released May 23, 2011.

Lady Gaga rose to international stardom with her debut studio album, "The Fame," in 2008. Her hit songs from her first album included "Just Dance" and "Poker Face." The following year, she released her EP "The Fame Monster" with hit songs "Bad Romance," "Telephone," and "Alejandro."

The 27-year-old artist's second studio album "Born This Way" was also a success, producing songs such as "Born This Way," "Judas," and "The Edge of Glory."

Lady Gaga has received five Grammy Awards and 13 MTV Video Music Awards so far.
