Kobe Bryant net worth 2016: Retired basketball star ranked 43 on Forbes list of highest-paid celebrities

Kobe Bryant is known as one of the greatest basketball players of all time and had been in the NBA since the age of 18. He just recently retired but as noted by a report from Gazette Review, he now has a total net worth of $360 million, ranking him 43 on the Forbes list of highest paid celebrities.

The Forbes article states that Bryant has a current salary rate of $50 million which is split in half between endorsements and his earnings from his time in the NBA and other endeavors. The star is notably featured on the Legend Edition of the upcoming video game, "NBA 2K17."

The article also points out that he invested between $4 million and $6 million to own more than 10 percent of the new energy drink brand, BodyArmor. Bryant has also invested in The Players' Tribune and continues to build his portfolio of companies.

Gazette Review lists down the highlights of Bryant's career and how he earned his spot as one of the highest earning celebrities in the world. It is noted that Bryant is the son of former NBA player Joe Bryant and Kobe later became the youngest person to ever play in NBA history, getting drafted into the NBA at age 17 and playing for the first time at age 18.

Bryant was initially recruited into the Charlotte Hornets but the team had never really intended to use him, instead opting to trade him the very same day to the Los Angeles Lakers. Throughout his entire career of 20 years in the NBA, Bryant has only played for the Lakers, making his career the longest anyone has ever played for a single club.

The report continues to state that the height of his career was when he was under coach Phil Jackson, who also coached the Chicago Bulls during the 1990s and was responsible for their victories. During this time Bryant, Jackson and the Lakers won three NBA championships in a row.
