'Kingsman 2' news: Poster reveals surprise return of character

"Kingsman: The Golden Circle" will pick up some time after the first film and will introduce a lot of new elements, such as the American counterpart to the Kingsmen and a new villain. However, as stated in a report from /Film, it is now teased that at least one major player from the first film will be making a comeback.

Taron Egerton, who plays the lead character Eggsy, has revealed the sequel's official poster via Twitter. While the poster does not reveal any faces or locations, it does give a big hint at Colin Firth's character, Galahad, returning in the new film despite Galahad being killed by a point-blank gunshot in the first movie.

The poster has the words "Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated," hinting that Galahad may have somehow survived the events that took place and that the sequence shown in the first movie did not play out as initially revealed to the audience.

It is important to note that the quote is taken from classic American writer Mark Twain and the image in the poster is that of Galahad's glasses, with one lens missing as it was the area where Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson) shot him. Both elements point to the return of Galahad despite the rumors that he was not returning for the sequel.

"Kingsman: The Golden Circle" will see the Kingsmen head over to the United States after the Kingsman headquarters was destroyed by a mysterious female villain, played by Julianne Moore, and her cohorts known only as the Golden Circle. There they will team up with the American spy organization known as the Statesman.

Borys Kit, from the Hollywood Reporter, has also taken to Twitter to reveal inside information claiming that Colin Firth is indeed reprising his role, although this may still be taken as a rumor until the studios reveal him in a trailer or official announcement.

"Kingsman: The Golden Circle" will see the return of Taron Egerton, Mark Strong and potentially Colin Firth while also introducing Halle Berry and Julianne Moore to the series. The film opens in theaters on June 16, 2017.
