iPod Touch 6G rumors: Release date in October, after Apple iPhone 6 launch?

Apple has already released a couple of highly anticipated devices, including the iPhone 6 and the Apple Watch. However, there has been no specific announcements regarding the release date of the iPod Touch 6G, although it has been speculated for an October release, a month after the unveiling of the iPhone 6.

The tech giant released the device's predecessor, the fifth generation iPod Touch, two years ago together with the iPhone 5s, which raked in mostly positive reviews due to a major overhaul in the iPod Touch line.

The last iPod Touch was designed to appear similar to the iPhone 5, integrated with a 4-inch display, slim shell, Siri and iSight. Users can choose from a certain range of colors as well.

With the recent launching of the iPhone 6 phones, reports about the iPod Touch 6G continue to surface, including the possibility that the upcoming device will be launched together with the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 during the next upcoming iPad event of Apple.

With the company reportedly carrying out the event this October, a month after the release of the iPhone 6, speculations have now been centered on an October release date for the iPod Touch 6G.

In terms of features, the latest device in the iPod Touch lineup is expected to be incorporated with the upcoming iOS 8, which has been set for a release this fall. The iPod Touch 6G has then been said to include the Touch ID, Apple's own tool for fingerprint recognition and attempt for increased convenience and security.

Speculations have also put forward the possibility that the new iPod touch will incorporate mixed elements from the iPod Touch 5G, iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. Due to the considerable drop in their iPod Touch sales, Apple has also been rumored to design the upcoming device in a way that will complement the recently launched iPhone 6.
