iPhone 7 rumors roundup: Smartphone to pack 3D display feature

Latest iPhone 7 rumors state that the smartphone will come with a 3D screen display.

GforGames cited Taiwanese media web site Economic Daily that claims that Apple will include a glasses-free 3D display in the upcoming iPhone. The report adds that Apple aims to create a 3D "hardware and software ecosystem."

This means that 3D effect can be seen without the need of 3D glasses. However, this particular type of screen cannot be made by embedded touch technology, which has been used since iPhone 5. The report also states that Apple plans to seek the help of touchscreen manufacturer TPK to make the screens of the iPhone.

Apple has shown interest in 3D devices in the past as the company filed a patent for glasses-free 3D stereoscopic displays six years ago when 3D technology is still emerging. The company also filed a patent for 3D "Hyper Reality" that entails changing the perspective of the objects on the screen based on the movement of the head of the user.

Other rumors claim that Apple will bring a sapphire screen protector to the new iPhone 7 after the current iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus suffered criticisms because of its thin profile, which yields to a brittle screen. Sapphire screen first appeared in the Apple Watch, which is why it is not impossible for Apple to pack it to its next line of smartphones.

Meanwhile, iPhone 7 is also rumored to include a solar power feature that will aid the device with its power capacity. The device is also expected to be waterproof, a feature that has already been included in other smartphones.

Based on the previous timeline of Apple, the iPhone 7 release date will most likely happen in September 2015 as this particular launch window yields the most impact to iPhone devices.

However, the Cupertino-based company has not commented on the rumors pertaining to the iPhone 7. The company is currently concentrating in delivering the new devices it released in the past months.
