iPhone 6 release date may really happen in September as reports said that Pegatron is working on 15% of iPhone 6 production.
According to InRumor, Apple hired Pegatron to aid its known partner Foxconn in manufacturing its devices. The report also cited Taiwan's Industrial and Commercial Times claiming that Pegatron has received an order of 15% of the total production of the iPhone 6 with a 4.7 inch display. This signals the imminent release of the device as the gears have already been set in motion.
The report added that the company will manufacture a total of 50 million units of iPhone 6, iPhone 5C and iPhone 4S this year. It was initially speculated that Pegatron will be in charge of half of the total iPhone 6 production and Foxconn will take care of the other half.
Meanwhile, Apple was rumored to release two iPhones this year. One with a 4.7 inch screen display and the other with a 5.5 inch panel.
In a separate report, InRumor also stated that the first phablet-sized smartphone from Apple may be produced in low quantities due to high production cost.
Chinese website Weibo states that the rumored sapphire screen displays are difficult to produce and would cost a lot more. Other reports claimed that production of the 5.5 inch iPhone 6 will be delayed due to complicated process in manufacturing the device.
Aside from a larger screen, the grapevine also claimed that the handset will also pack the next iOS 8, which will be unveiled soon. The new operating system is expected to bring new software features to the handset. Moreover, consumers may also see A8 chipset with 64-bit architecture, a bigger internal storage and an improved Touch ID sensor in Apple's flagship smartphone.
It was initially speculated that iPhone 6 will debut at this year's Worldwide Developers' Conference scheduled in June. However, this seemed unlikely and renewed rumors pointed that the next generation of iPhone will most likely arrive in its usual launch window in the fall.
