With the launching of Apple's latest offerings, including the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus, clones of the said smartphones have been generated in China.
Chinese clones of the iPhone 6 have already become highly popular, such as the Dapeng i6, GooPhone's iPhone 6 clone, and Xiaomi's Mi4.
The Dapeng i6 comes with a 4.7-inch LCD display with 960 x 540 resolution as well as 512 MB of RAM. It is also integrated with built-in storage of up to 8 GB and can be expanded to a maximum of 16 GB. It also comes with a MT6582 quad-core processor from MediaTek along with a 5-megapixel camera at the back, plus a 1.3-megapixel camera in front. The smartphone runs on Android 4.2, and is reportedly being sold for less than $110 with free shipping anywhere in the world.
Another iPhone 6 China clone is a device from GooPhone, a gadget manufacturer best known for imitating Samsung and Apple products. Such phone comes with a 4.7-inch IPS LCD display with 960 x 540 resolution, highly similar to the Dapeng i6. However, while it is also powered by the MT6582 quad-core processor, GooPhone's take on the iPhone 6 includes only 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage.
Interestingly, it has been integrated with a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera, and runs on Android 4.3. GooPhone is selling such device for $199.99.
Finally, Xiaomi has also unveiled its own take on the iPhone, although its Mi4 looks more of a huge iPhone 5S than the current iPhone 6. Nonetheless, the iPhone imitation has already sold a considerably large number of units in China especially with a design, layout and Home button symbol identical to that of the iPhone.
The Mi4's 5-inch IPS display offers a full HD 1080 x 1920 resolution and uses a quad-core Snapdragon 801 chipset, 3 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of storage, particularly with a variant that has 3G access. The upcoming 4G model reportedly includes up to 64 GB of storage at a higher price.
In addition, the Mi4 comes with a 3080 mAh battery, which is larger than the Galaxy S5's cell, and is integrated with a 13-megapixel camera which is expected to provide high-quality photo and video capture.
While such iPhone 6 clones are currently targeting local Chinese customers and neighboring Asian countries, to purchase and try out these latest handsets will depend on one's requirements and expectations.
