iPhone 6 features, price: $100 premium may be added for 5.5-inch phablet variant

The 5.5 inch variant of the iPhone 6 phablet will add an additional $100 on the iPhone 5S' normal price, according to an analyst.

Tavis McCourt analyst Raymond James says that consumers may have to add a few bucks to get the larger version of the upcoming iPhone 6. Apple's premium products always come with a hefty price tag and the rumored iPhone 6 series is not an exemption. The iPhone 6 phablet will come with a higher price tag brought about by the larger screen display as well as the standard premium features.

The additional $100 did not deter the market and the phablet continued to receive positive predictions. As a matter of fact, Raymond James stated in his research note that there is a growing number of iPhone users willing to put the extra dollars in order to get the larger iPhone. James conducted a survey and a full one-third of survey respondents said they were willing to pay a $100 premium.

"Data seems to suggest meaningful demand for a larger screen, which should logically mean the iPhone 6-cycle will be strong for upgrade sales, which combined with modest contribution from wearables should cause a modest acceleration in revenue growth in fiscal 2015," he added in his report to the investors.

The Travis McCourt analyst also reiterated previous claims that the 5.5 inch variant of iPhone 6 will be available a few months after the release of the 4.7 inch model. The smaller version of iPhone 6 is rumored to be released in its usual launch window in September and the 5.5 inch phablet is rumored to be launched in October. Although some reports said that Apple could release the smartphone earlier late this summer.

The Cupertino-based company has not revealed the official specs and features of its flagship phone. However, predictions claimed that the high end Apple handset will pack the next-gen 64-bit A8 processor, iOS 8, as well as improved fingerprint sensor and camera.
