iPad Pro release date, specs rumors: New flagship unveiled Sept. 9?

 Apple

Apple has officially announced via CNBC that they will host a major event this Sept. 9, and according to a report from 9to5Mac, the long-rumored iPad Pro will make its official debut during this event. The announcement may be accompanied by the debut of two new iPhone devices, a new iPad mini, and new bands for the Apple Watch.

The report says that the venue — the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco — is capable of holding up to 7,000 people and is an indication of the scope that Apple is aiming for in introducing multiple new devices all in one event. Some take this as a hint that the company is planning to unveil the iPad Pro this September.

According to the report, the device will then be made available in November, although rumor mills speculate that it may see a release as early as late October.

The iPad Pro is said to be geared toward power users, for use on video games and high-end apps like video editing tools and more. Further unconfirmed specs include iOS 9.1 which offers an enhanced version of Siri and split-screen multi-tasking; a Force Touch-centered stylus; and improved speakers placed on both sides. It will reportedly be a 12-inch device, as big as a MacBook, and will be the main flagship iPad.

Alongside the iPad Pro, Apple will reportedly unveil the new iPad mini 4 which is allegedly going to be thinner than the current iPad mini. There are also hints that the new iPad Air will be unveiled, but the report cites that this device might be pushed back to 2016 because the September event will already introduce two iPad devices.
