iPad Pro 2 release date rumors: Tablet launching in September?

It was previously speculated that the iPad Pro 2 would be unveiled during Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) but this did not come to pass as the company instead gave a more in-depth presentation of iOS 10. However, a report from MacWorld states that it may still be released this year, particularly in September.

According to the report, Apple is likely to announce the iPhone 7 this September and the phone may be launched with the final build of iOS 10. However, the iPad Pro 2 may also be unveiled during the September event, several months following the March launch of the smaller 9.7-inch iPad Pro.

The report states that there is one issue with releasing it in September. It is stated that this may cause concern for consumers who already bought the earlier iPad Pro because the sudden launch of the iPad Pro 2 would make them feel like they now own an obsolete device.

If the iPad Pro 2 does not launch in September it is expected to be released instead by March 2017, mirroring the launch of the 9.7-inch iPad Pro. This may help temper the consumers who feel Apple releases new devices too quickly but it will also cause concern for 12.9-inch iPad Pro owners as their device would be more than a year and a half old.

During the Apple presentation at the WWDC, it was revealed that iOS 10 will now come with the ability to split the screen into three panels, making it much easier for multitasking on a single app. However, the report states this is solely for the larger iPad Pro and may come as a built-in feature for the iPad Pro 2.

It is important to note that Apple has not yet given any official announcement regarding the launch of the iPad Pro 2 and the rumored September or March 2017 release date should still be taken as pure speculation until proven otherwise.
