iPad Air 3 release date: New tablet may come early next year

 Apple Store

The iPad Air 3 may not be set to hit stores until early next year.

Those who have been following the rumors regarding the iPad Air 3 were most likely anticipating its official launch earlier this year, but with two months left in 2015, it appears the company may not have any plans to release the tablet before the calendar turns to 2016.

To be more specific, the latest expected release date for the iPad Air 3 is sometime around March next year. This new release date rumor comes courtesy of the Chinese website MyDrivers, and as reported by Alphr.

As for why Apple may have decided to hold off on releasing the iPad Air 3 this year, the biggest reason may simply because the company is afraid of possible buyer fatigue.

Both the iPad Pro and iPad Mini 4 were announced fairly recently, and announcing yet another one would have created a possibly problematic situation for Apple wherein they had too many new tablets for not enough buyers as Alphr also pointed out.

Another potential benefit of releasing the iPad Air 3 in March could come in the form of more eyeballs being directed toward what would be an Apple offering that does not need to share the spotlight with anything else.

As for what specs and features people can expect to find in the iPad Air 3, first off, it will reportedly feature the A9X processor, according to IT Pro UK.

The new iPad Air could also provide users with up to 128 GB of internal storage. It is also expected to have somewhere between 2 and 4 GB of RAM.

It is expected to have a primary camera that provides users with eight megapixels, and a secondary shooter that offers 2.1 megapixels.

For those that prefer their tablets to be very compact, the iPad Air 3 is currently believed to be thinner than the iPad Air 2.
