'Indiana Jones 5' cast news: Chris Pratt to get role after massive success of 'Jurassic World'?

Chris Pratt in Jurassic World Universal Pictures

Actor Chris Pratt has denied the rumors of him being cast in a "Ghostbusters" reboot alongside Channing Tatum, but as pointed out by a report from Enstarz, he has neither denied nor confirmed any interest in portraying Indiana Jones. A new report from Entertainment Weekly hints that he may be the most likely candidate now.

Kathleen Kennedy, president of LucasFilm, confirmed last month in an interview with Vanity Fair that "Indiana Jones 5" is going to happen and that it would happen soon. However, no script is in development yet and no one has been cast to play the character. It wasn't confirmed if it would be a sequel to the film series starring Harrison Ford or a reboot with a new actor.

However, according to the report from Entertainment Weekly, the massive success of "Jurassic World," which stars Pratt, may prompt Universal Pictures and LucasFilm to consider casting the actor for the role of Indiana Jones.

Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones LucasFilm

As reported here in Christian Today, "Jurassic World" just broke the world record for the largest domestic box office of all time, earning $209 million domestically and a grand total of $511.8 million worldwide. This breaks the domestic records previously held by "The Avengers."

Both the original "Jurassic Park" and "Indiana Jones" films were produced and directed by Steven Spielberg. LucasFilm, which owns the "Indiana Jones" franchise, is now owned by Disney and Spielberg is also collaborating with Disney for the first time with his upcoming film "The BFG," as reported by The Guardian.

All of these elements combined means it is not too far-fetched an idea for Spielberg, Kennedy, and Disney to come together and make "Indiana Jones 5" and cast Pratt for the role. The actor has already proven his marketability with "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Jurassic World."

At this point, however, it is important to note that neither Pratt nor LucasFilm has confirmed or denied the possibility of the actor taking on the role.
