It's been over eleven years since director Brad Bird made his feature-film debut with "The Incredibles," an animated film  revolving around the life of a family wherein each member has a different super power. Now, the director has confirmed in a recent interview with Collider that he will be working on "The Incredibles 2."

According to the report, Bird is currently putting all his focus and attention on his current project, "Tomorrowland," which is also a Disney-produced film and is inspired by the Disney ride of the same name, similar to how the "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride was later adapted into a feature-length film starring Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, and Kiera Knightley.

Bird has confirmed that he has already started working on the film's screenplay. No word has been released regarding the return of original cast members including Craig T. Nelson and Holly Hunter, although Samuel L. Jackson has reportedly expressed his interest in reprising his role as Frozone.

"Oh yeah I have pages, a bunch of pages," Bird told Collider. "I had a lot of ideas for the original Incredibles that I didn't get a chance to use, that I like. I have ideas that I wanted to pursue a little bit and there wasn't enough time in Incredibles. There are new ideas I have, and I think there are enough of those together to make an interesting movie."

When asked if "The Incredibles 2" is indeed his next project once he is done with "Tomorrowland," Bird replied, "Yeah it feels like it to me, yeah."

No release date has been given but since "Tomorrowland" is scheduled to hit theaters on May 22, it is likely that "The Incredibles 2" will be released by 2017 now that Disney and Pixar have shuffled their release dates for "Inside Out" and "The Good Dinosaur."

Bird hit the scene in 2004 with the first "The Incredibles" film and he followed this up with "Ratatouille," both of which were given the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. He then stepped out of animated films and directed the Tom Cruise-driven action flick "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol,"  his first live-action feature.
