Taiwanese mobile manufacturer HTC will finally unveil its first wearable device next year, joining the ranks of Apple, Samsung, Google, and Sony that are already offering their respective wearable technologies. An HTC spokesperson confirmed to Venturebeat that the company is prepping for the launch of the HTC device at the Consumer Electronics Show 2015.
The spokesman also spilled that HTC will not dive into the pool of smartwatches released by its competitors. This was hinted by the statement of the mobile manufacturer saying that they "will work closely with other companies who have already done significant work in developing apps for activities such as fitness." This suggests that the new wearable tech will target fitness fanatics with a device meant for workout or exercise.
Previous reports claimed that the wearable technology was supposed to be launched in late 2014, but was eventually pushed back because the device is not ready yet.
After HTC released the Nexus 9 tablet in partnership with Google, it seems that the company gained more confidence and is now ready to take on more risks like entering a new market to be at par with its competitors.
The tech company is also reported to release the HTC One M9 smartphone. According to the latest reports, HTC's forthcoming flagship smartphone will be coined as "Hima". Upleaks and other publications revealed the specs and features of HTC's mobile phone are: 5-inch Full HD screen display; Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor with 2.0 GHz quad-core A57+ 1.5GHz quad-core A53 clusters; 20.7-megapixel Sony Exmor RS IMX220 sensor or 13-megapixel back camera with 4 Ultrapixel front shooter; 32 GB internal storage; 2840 mAh battery; Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with HTC Sense 7 UI; aluminum body; and front-facing speakers.
