Taiwan tech company HTC, once again, is dipping its hands in the tablet market as it is reportedly planning to release a new tablet with specs and features similar to Nexus 9's.

After months of leaking about the heavily rumored HTC One M9, HTC tipster @upleaks said that the Taiwanese OEM manufacturer is working on a tablet that resembles the Google Nexus 9, bearing the same dimensions with a slight tweak in the specs and features.

Although the tipster did not reveal the hardware specifications of the device, it is speculated that the tablet will sport the same 8.9-inch screen display with 4:3 aspect ratio. The current Nexus 9 tablet packs a 64-bit Nvidia Tegra K1 Denver processor paired with 2 GB of RAM, 16 or 32 GB internal storage, dual-front facing speakers with HTC BoomSound, and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera.

It has been years since HTC released its bet in the market. Its slates faced low sales and unpopularity that, presumably, discouraged the company from creating a follow-up to 2011's HTC Flyer and Jetstream – tablets that did not really take off.

There is no concrete release date yet for this Nexus 9-like slate. This means that there's little chance that tablet will be launched at HTC's press event on March 1 where the company will most likely announce its new flagship smartphone, the HTC One M9.

The HTC One M9 is rumored to come with a 5- to 5.5-inch screen display and quad HD resolution, 3 GB of RAM, Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OS with HTC Sense 7 UI, 20.7-megapixel camera and 13-megapixel front-facing camera or an Ultrapixel shooter. The smartphone is said come in different versions – Android and Windows.

The aforementioned specs and features of the smartphone are not final yet since HTC is still tight-lipped about its plans and devices it will release this year.
