Google Nexus 9 discounts: Amazon slashes $50 from tablet

HTC Nexus 9 discounts keep emerging due to the lukewarm reception of consumers to the tablet. Google and HTC are trying to keep the tablet afloat as the competition in the market is very stiff.

Amazon is offering the 16 GB and 32 GB variants, both Lunar White and Indigo Black, for $50 less. This means that the 16 GB model is now only $349.99, down from its original price of $399.99, while the 32 GB variant now costs $429.99, down from $479.99.

This is a great deal for the tablet, but not as great as HTC's "Hot Deals" that takes place every Tuesday until the end of December. The deal brings down the price of the HTC Nexus 9 to $199 — that's $200 less than the original price. However, the great discount is available only for 12 hours, starting at 9 a.m. PST/ 12 p.m. EST.

Meanwhile, the LTE-enabled version of the HTC Nexus 9 is now available at Google Play Store, AT&T, and T-Mobile. Buyers can get the 32 GB variant of the tablet for $599.79 off-contract. Consumers can also get the tablet from T-Mobile without an upfront price but with a $24.99 monthly subscription fee for 24 months. AT&T, on the other hand, offers the tablet for $100 with data plans for $10 per month.

HTC Nexus 9 packs an 8.9-inch quad HD screen display with 288 ppi pixel density and dual-core NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor clocked at 2.3 GHz paired with 2 GB of RAM. The tablet runs with the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. Other specs of the Nexus 9 are 8-megapixel back camera with LED flash, 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera, and 6700 mAh battery.

Amidst the head turning specs and features packed in the Nexus 9 tablet, Google's slate was plagued with issues like poor build quality, backlight bleeding, inflexible buttons, and other problems on top of the bugs and issues that are crowding the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. Reports claim that Google is ceasing the production of the Nexus 5 handset to focus on the new Nexus 6 and 9.
