'House of Cards' season 4: Frank's dark side showcased in new trailer

"House of Cards" season 4 will premiere on March 4, 2016. Netflix

After a long wait, the first teaser trailer for "House of Cards" season 4 has been released. While it doesn't showcase any footage of the new season, it does focus a lot on Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) and his campaign for U.S. President while also looking back at his crimes.

"They say we get the leaders we deserve," Underwood is heard stating at the very end of the teaser. "I think America deserves Frank Underwood."

Clips in the trailer showcase all of the murders that Underwood committed, starting from the dog he killed right in the first season's pilot to Peter Russo (Corey Stoll) and more. It also showcases some of the kills he ordered but did not directly commit, as well his affairs, including the one with journalist Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara).

As pointed out in a report from /Film, the trailer efficiently showcases and mirrors real life politics as it symbolizes how many reputable politicians have dark and bloody secrets. The trailer also allows Underwood to break the fourth wall as his speech not only addresses the people in the world of "House of Cards" but the audience as well.

Following the launch of the first teaser, Netflix also released a faux pas campaign ad. Again, this video showcases Frank Underwood speaking directly to the audience while also showcasing scenes which many would indicate as signs of a country working together toward improvement.

The ad then ends with Underwood stating "America, I'm only getting started."

Unfortunately, the trailer and the mock campaign ad do not showcase what becomes of Frank Underwood and his wife Claire (Robin Wright) following their fight in the season 3 finale and it doesn't reveal the new couple that is said to challenge Underwood's dominance over the country.

"House of Cards" season 4 will launch all 13 episodes on Netflix this coming March 4.
