Hatchimals have become some of the most popular toys in 2016, and both physical retail stores and online stores have run out of supply in mere hours. However, it is now indicated that stores like Walmart and Target are hoarding the rest of their supplies in preparation for Black Friday.

According to a report from I4U, some of these stores did manage to sell them online just recently, but again, stocks were sold out in mere minutes. It is advised that parents have a better chance of getting these toys for their children in brick-and-mortar stores instead of scouring online.

If stores like Walmart and Target are indeed hoarding supplies for Black Friday, it is expected that buying them in physical stores will be easier than finding supplies online. The report also reveals that they might only offer these toys in physical outlets but not on their online store.

Because of how quickly the toys go out of stock, they have reportedly begun reappearing on sites like eBay for nearly triple the original retail price. Given that the toys are often sold at $50 or $60, they are now appearing on eBay and Amazon at $180 or more.

Time reports that these toys are so popular now that they have even run out of stock in the UK, indicating that they are reaching a level of success that can match classic toys like the Tamagotchi, Furby, and the Cabbage Patch Doll.

Hatchimals are designed to look like a combination of two animals. The Owlicorn, for example, is a stuffed toy that mixes an owl and a unicorn. The gimmick of these toys is that they are first trapped inside an egg and the child must then take care of this egg and interact with it for it to hatch.

Once the egg has hatched, there are no means of putting it back inside. Despite this, the hatchimal can then start teaching the hatchimal and interacting with it to dance, walk, and play.

Does the Church of England need to re-think its messaging?

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
