Actor Harrison Ford, 72, is now in stable condition and is continuing to receive medical assistance at a Los Angeles hospital following an emergency landing he made last March 5, reportedly due to his plane suffering from an engine failure. According to the International Business Times, Ford is expected to make a full recovery.
Sources cited by People said Ford's wife Calista Flockhart rushed to be with him when she learned about incident, and stayed with him for hours at the hospital.
In an interview with the same publication back in 2003, Flockhart stated that she has full confidence in Ford's piloting skills, and she enjoys sharing the past time with him.
Ford reportedly replied, "Calista loves to fly, and I'm thrilled because it's so important to me and it's the kind of thing that's so much more fun with somebody who really enjoys it."
Initial photos of the crash scene made the situation look quite dire and TMZ's initial reports indicated that he was in severe critical condition with multiple gashes. This was later denounced when official reports cited by BBC revealed he was able to walk away from the scene and suffered from mild injuries.
Now that the actor is safely out of the waters and is expected to make a full recovery with no permanent physical damage, reports from the Los Angeles Times indicate movie insurers may ground Ford from flying while he is working on a film.
The actor was flying a vintage World War II 1942 Ryan Aeronautical ST3KR plane when engine problems forced him to turn around and make for an emergency landing. He maneuvered and landed on the Penmar Golf Course in Venice, California, just 800 meters away from the runway he was aiming for.
This would be the second major incident regarding Ford's health. Ford was previously brought to the hospital due to an ankle injury attained while on set for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." Shooting of the film was re-scheduled to work around Ford's availability.
