'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' spoilers: Nathan Fillion playing Wonder Man

Actor Nathan Fillion appeared in "Guardians of the Galaxy" but it was a blink-and-you'll-miss-it type of cameo appearance. However, as stated in a report from Heroic Hollywood, the actor will be making another appearance in the sequel and this time around he will be a little bit more noticeable.

According to a report from Comic Book, leaked photos of the film's set in Georgia reveal several mock movie posters that seem to be the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of famous films. All of the posters reveal that the leading star in these movies is Simon Williams aka Wonder Woman.

Wonder Man started out in the Marvel comic books as a villain but eventually reformed and temporarily joined the ranks of the Avengers. However, this did not last long and Williams eventually became a movie star and it appears that this is the state he is already in in the timeline of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2."

It is also entirely possible that this is just a small nod to the comic book character and that the film version has no history of evil or superpowers and is merely a Hollywood movie star. As stated in the report, they may simply be Easter eggs for the die-hard comic book fans.

However, one of the film posters is titled "Tony Stark" and is a mock-up of the "Steve Jobs" movie poster. This hints that these scenes will be taking place on Earth although it is unclear what time period the scenes with Nathan Fillion take place. Given that Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is even mentioned at all it is likely to be within the time period of the current MCU films.

Fans previously speculated that FIllion may be playing Adam Warlock, a character seen only in cocoon form in the first movie and is also speculated to be one of the possible fathers to main character Peter Quill aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt).

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" opens in theaters this May 5, 2017.
