'Grey's Anatomy' season 12 spoilers: The 'Nazi' returns in episode 2

"Grey's Anatomy" season 12 has begun. Whereas the premiere episode focused primarily on the race to the position of chief of surgery, episode 2 will focus on people's opinion of Dr. Bailey (Chandra Wilson) as she transforms back to the cold and scary "Nazi" she was introduced as back in the first few seasons of the series.

Episode 2, titled "Walking Tall," will see the new power of a chief of surgery get to Bailey's head. As shown in the promotional trailer for the episode, Bailey is seen giving out orders, and when Jackson (Jesse Williams) calls her impossible for it, she retorts with a simple "Oh, I know you didn't say impossible."

Callie (Sara Ramirez) is the one who brings the topic up when she tells Maggie (Kelly McCreary) what Bailey used to be.

"You know what they used to call her," Callie is shown telling Maggie, "the Nazi."

Callie even asks Owen (Kevin McKidd) if he could come back as the chief of surgery. He simply walks away.

Fans of the series will recall that the "Nazi" moniker for Dr. Bailey had faded away starting around the fourth and fifth season. This was when the original set of interns, including Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), had become full-fledged doctors after being Bailey's interns for three years.

As for Meredith, the premiere episode focused on her struggling to adjust with her new roommates and with her numerous responsibilities as an anatomy teacher, a surgeon, and a mother. According to the synopsis posted on Cartermatt, it appears that this struggle will continue to be the main focus of her story arc in episode 2.

Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone), meanwhile, is shown trying to work on her relationship with Owen, although the promotional trailer does not reveal how far their conversation will go or what decisions the two may take in order to patch things through.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 12 episode 2 airs this Oct. 1.
