GoPro Hero 5 release date: Camera tipped to launch with Karma drone

The Hero 4, the predecessor of the GoPro Hero 5 GoPro

GoPro has been silent regarding the official lauch of the GoPro Hero 5 and the GoPro Karma drone, but according to Vine Report, it is possible that the two devices will be launching together by the holidays, making them ideal gifts for Thanksgiving or Christmas, depending on when they are exactly released.

The report cites a statement made on The Verge that confirmed GoPro's current lineup of products includes an action camera, a drone and a spherical camera. It is expected that the GoPro Hero 5 is the action camera in question while the drone is the Karma. The spherical camera has yet to be further investigated as there are no indications of what it is other than the fact that it is being designed for the general consumer.

It is further stated that the Karma was initially going to be released during the first half of the year but had to be pushed back to the holidays. The GoPro Hero 5 was also delayed as newer features were being implemented and issues had to be fixed. Due to this the two devices may now launch together by November or December.

GoPro has also been quite secretive regarding the features of the GoPro Hero 5 although rumors suggest it may feature 4K or even 8K resolution video recording, 3D capabilities and better wireless features that would make it easier and quicker to upload or stream videos to YouTube, Facebook and other social media sites.

Fans speculate that if the GoPro Hero 5 and GoPro Karma experience no further delays then they might even be bundled together and could launch by the first or second week of December to capitalize on the holiday sales that attract more customers.

GoPro has yet to make any official statement regarding the features and release date for both the GoPro Hero 5 action camera and the GoPro Karma drone.
