'Goosebumps 2' news - Sony confirms director and writer back for the sequel

"Goosebumps" had proven to be a moderate success for Sony Pictures and according to the Hollywood Reporter the studios are moving forward with a sequel. It has been confirmed that director Rob Letterman and writer Darren Lemke will be returning to work on the sequel.

However, actor Jack Black has not yet been confirmed to be a part of the sequel. As stated in a reprot from Screen Rant the actor, who played author R.L. Stine in the first movie, was a big reason for the movie's success as he was able to balance the horror aspects of "Goosebumps" with humor, making it a good kid-friendly horror film.

This does not mean that a sequel would not work without Black returning to reprise his role. The first movie focused on the cast of characters trying to seal the monsters back in the books written by R.L. Stine but a sequel could follow the events that happen after without Stine's involvement, focusing instead on the younger children.

Letterman and Lemke are both attributed for the first film's success as they managed to find a way of adapting the books into a single film without having to focus on a single plot from the books, instead telling a story where the monsters from the books come alive and now Stine and his friends must seal them back in.

Screen Rant reports that the first movie had been stuck in development for some time. The real "Goosebumps" series of books by R.L. Stine are not connected and it is stated that the film succeeded by using the character of Stine as an anchor point instead of just trying to adapt one or two of the stories from the books.

It is pointed out that the sequel is still very early in its development and that a script has yet to be completed. At the time being, Rob Letterman is also preoccupied with the upcoming "Dungeons and Dragons" movie as he is the director currently tapped by Warner Bros. to helm the project.

"Goosebumps 2" currently has no official release date at the time being.

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
