George R.R. Martin, the genius behind the successful book series "A Song of Ice and Fire," has some juicy details regarding possible spinoffs for the highly celebrated television series, "Game of Thrones." After it was announced earlier this month that four writers were currently developing plotlines for a number of possible "Game of Thrones" spinoffs, Martin revealed on his personal blog last Sunday that there is also a fifth story in development.

"Game of Thrones" has become the most watched television series produced by HBO so it is not surprising that the company would want to develop spinoffs for the series. Subsequently, after news first broke out that HBO is currently developing possible spinoffs, four writers were quickly attached to the project. BBC reports that Oscar winner Brian Helgelund ("L.A. Confidential"), Jane Goldman ("Kick-Ass"), Carly Wray ("Mad Men") and Max Borenstein ("Kong: Skull Island") have all signed with HBO to work on the projects.

Now, Martin shared that another writer has joined the fold. However, the identity of this writer has yet to be revealed. Martin did say, though, that this new writer is an "expert" on his work, even stating that there is no one else who knows and loves Westeros more than this person.

Meanwhile, season 7 of "Game of Thrones" will finally start airing this coming July. HBO has already released a trailer showing the primary characters for each story setting — mainly Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) and Daenerys Stormborn (Emilia Clarke) — walking through a hallway then sitting in each of their own thrones. While not revealing much about what's in store for season 7, it is highly likely that the main characters would finally meet for the first time as another villain takes center stage. This latest season has been highly anticipated since the story is already nearing its conclusion with only one season left to air after this.
