Galaxy Tab 4 Nook release by Barnes & Noble and Samsung at August 20 event

Following the announcement of their partnership in June, Samsung and Barnes & Noble have sent out invitations to their first event together as partners.

The companies will be hosting a get-together on August 20, 2014. Samsung and Barnes & Noble will be publicly launching their first ever co-branded gadget called the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook.

Barnes & Noble, the biggest bookseller in the United States, has been striving to establish itself in the tablet industry, and eventually sought the assistance and partnership of Samsung. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook is the first foray of the new partners in this industry.

This partnership evidently marked the end of Barnes & Noble's endeavor to compete in hardware design. Upon establishing the partnership with Samsung, Barnes & Noble will only focus on its own software. However, the bookseller will still retain its Nook GlowLight, an e-ink device.

The Samsung and Barnes & Noble event will be held in the Union Square location of Barnes & Noble in New York. The invitation does not give out details beyond stating, "Join us as the best of both worlds come together."

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook will be built with Samsung's hardware. The device will be custom-made using the Nook software from Barnes & Noble. The gadget is set to feature a 7-inch TFT display with 800 x 1280 resolution. In addition, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook will be powered by a quad-core 1.2 GHz processor.

The device will also be offered with 1.5 GB of RAM, 8 GB storage while its primary camera will have 3.15 MP with 720p video recording support. The secondary shooter will be 1.3 MP. In addition, the tablet will have a Li-Po 4,000 mAh battery.

According to Samsung and Barnes & Nobles, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook will be available for retail in US stores by the end of August this year.
