Samsung Galaxy S5 battery problems: How to deal with it

Samsung Galaxy S5

Following the release of the Samsung Galaxy S5 last February, reports have surfaced of how the newest phone from the Galaxy S lineup has been causing battery problems. Customers have reportedly made complaints that the S5 can be associated with a low battery life. When left on standby, the Galaxy S5 is expected to last up to only 10 hours.

Another concern that has been a hassle for the phone's users is its tendency to overheat especially when used for a long time. As the Galaxy S5's case is made up entirely of plastic, it is less capable of conducting heat as compared to phones that are clad in metal.

Samsung will still have to comment on the increasing number of complaints relating to overheating and battery life.

Yahoo Tech has contributed a number of tips that can aid users in handling Galaxy S5 battery problems with which many of these have been found effective on other Android devices.

One of the basic reminders for smartphone users is to close apps that have been running in the background, especially apps that are not needed to function on its own when not being used. These include games, social media apps, and the phone's camera, to name a few.

According to Android Central, another common tip to save up on battery is to lower the phone's display brightness; with a dimmer screen, less battery can be consumed. Turning the phone's WiFi off is particularly helpful as the device will continuously search for available connections if it remains turned on. Consequently, it can reduce the handset's battery life.

Similarly, Bluetooth and GPS should be turned off while vibrations for the phone's ringing should be disabled. On the other hand, turning on Airplane mode has been found to be very helpful in saving battery as it turns off all available wireless connections.

Finally, the more recently launched Samsung Galaxy smartphones, including the S5, have been incorporated with a Power Saving mode that can be simply turned on to enhance the device's battery life.
