Samsung Galaxy Note 4 vs Note 3: What does Samsung's new phablet have over its predecessor?

Samsung has made a monumental step in creating the Galaxy Note 4. The new phablet is tagged as the company's "innovative breakthrough" with a completely made-over design.

Samsung built the Note 4 with a "premium metallic side frame" and "fluid curvature" on its 2.5D glass screen. Its soft-textured polycarbonate back cover with a faux-leather pattern provides ergonomic and solid feel for "incredible comfort that makes it easy to control with one hand." So despite the 5.7-inch size, the new Note is easy and comfortable to carry and use. This is the main development and one of the major selling points of the new phablet — an undeniable advantage over the Galaxy Note 3, which might be the last to come in a plastic build.

Internally, the two are identical in terms of the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. However, there is a huge difference between the two.  The Galaxy Note 4 has better display and a more advanced processor than its predecessor. It is powered by a quad-core 2.7GHz Snapdragon 805 processor, and it sports a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 (515 ppi). But while the Note 3 also measures 5.7 inches, its display is at 1,920 x 1,080 (386 ppi), and it runs on a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor.

The Note 3 has 3200 mAh battery and the Note 4 has 3220 mAh. While it seems like a small change, Load the Game reports the dramatic enhancement in its battery life.   It has a more useful charging capacity as well. With its Micro USB port integrated with Adaptive Fast Charging brick, battery life can go from 0 to 50 in half an hour.

The difference between the layout is very minimal. Like the Note 3, the newer model still features a 3.5mm headphone jack, IR blaster, microphone, S Pen, and speaker, but it has been given a fingerprint scanner. Furthermore, some elements were rearranged to serve Note 4's revamped design.

The camera also separates the two, with Note 4 boasting a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 3.7-megapixel front shooter, an upgrade from Note 3's 13-megapixel rear- and 2-megapixel front-facing cams .

A better, more seamless S Pen is also part of the Note 4's advantage. It has a detachable tip with optional rubber and plastic tip, both functioning well during tasks, such as gaming and writing. Meanwhile, 9to5Google puts it in a nutshell by saying that "most of what makes the Note 4 so functional is dictated by software."

The Galaxy Note 4 will be released on Oct. 17 in the U.S.
