'Frozen 2' news, plot rumors: release of sequel may be postponed due to upcoming live-action Disney films

 Disney

"Frozen 2" is one of the most highly anticipated animated films, given how the first movie was one of the most highly successful animated features in history. However, the sequel is now rumored to be a little bit delayed as Disney may prioritize some of their live-action films.

According to Ecumenical News, "Frozen 2" is speculated to be released by 2018 or 2019 but the film might be pushed back as Disney allocates the release date for its other projects. This follows the massive success of their recent live action adaptations of "Maleficent," "Cinderella" and most recently "The Jungle Book."

It is pointed out that Disney is still in production for the live-action adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast" as well as early development for a live-action "The Little Mermaid" film. Both may steal the spotlight from "Frozen 2," pushing the latter to a much later date so that they do not affect each other's box office.

Fans speculate that this might not be the case, however, given how "Beauty and the Beast" already has a release window and already released its first teaser trailer. Animated films are also spaced out and Disney has two release dates already revealed but no titles have been attached to them, making it likely that "Frozen 2" will be one of them.

This would mean that "Frozen 2" would still release by 2018 at the latest.

In terms of the film's plot, nothing official has yet been stated. As previously reported, some of the rumors include the possibility of Elsa and Anna going up against each other for the crown, Elsa and Anna teaming together to fight a witch using fire powers and other speculations hint that Elsa might realize she is a lesbian.

Disney has yet to respond to any of the rumors and to announce an official release date. As it stands, any information should still be taken as a rumor.
