'Frozen 2' news: Conservatives launch counter-campaign against making Elsa lesbian

It was previously reported that fans of "Frozen" have launched a Twitter campaign to convince Disney to make Elsa (Idina Menzel) a lesbian in the upcoming sequel, "Frozen 2." A new report from Right Wing Watch reveals that Christian conservatives have launched their own campaign to go against this.

According to the report, CitizenGO is making its own petitions and campaign to convince Disney to give Princess Elsa a traditional "Prince Charming" in the sequel. Gregory Mertz, also from CitizenGO, recently emailed members in order to sign the petition and help the campaign gain attention.

"Disney is facing fierce pressure from liberal groups who are demanding their writers turn Queen Elsa into a lesbian during the sequel, 'Frozen 2,'" writes Mertz. "With our petition, we're suggesting Disney with a much better idea. An idea that promotes solid family values to our children and represents the natural family."

Mertz also claims that the notion of making Princess Elsa is a frightening concept.

Far-right pastor Kevin Swanson has also pushed for this campaign, according to the report. Swanson is already known for claiming the first "Frozen" film was part of an agenda to make children gay and claimed that the song "Let It Go" was a Satanic theme song of rebellion.

Swanson continued to explain that the campaign to make Elsa lesbian and the concept of adding gay characters in children's movies such as "Frozen 2" would be a sure-fire means of "destroying civilization."

At the time being Disney has not yet responded to either campaign and it is still undetermined if Elsa will be lesbian or not in "Frozen 2." The character was last seen in the "Frozen Fever" but even in the short film the princess was not paired with a male or female love interest.

"Frozen 2" is expected to launch in theaters by 2018, although no specific release date has yet been announced.
