'Flip or Flop' Tarek and Christina El Moussa news 2017: Former employee sues reality stars for not paying their dues

"Flip or Flop" stars Tarek and Christina El Moussa are being sued by a Jonathan Schmier, the guy who supposedly finds them homes to flip. The reality stars have not paid the latter, and reportedly owe Schmier over $30,000.

According to reports, the "Flip or Flop" stars hired Schmier to locate homes that will be the subject of their reality show. The couple's company, Next Level Investments, employed his services last year. Schmier says that he has worked with the couple for eight months in 2016.

Schmier claims to have found the couple five homes in North Carolina. Schmier claims he has been informed the couple intend to branch out eventually and take their business from SoCal all the way to the East Coast.

The deal between Next Level Investments and Schmier reportedly set a $5,000 pay for every house Schmier finds for them. That aside, he is demanding for the minimum wage payment for the hours logged, the suit indicates. Reports say Schmier is demanding about $37,800.

According to reports, along with the El Moussas, Pete de Best, who is the couple's business partner, HGTV, and Scripps Network have all been named as defendants. Schmier reportedly contacted Scripps' vice president of legal affairs, but the latter shot down his claim that "Flip or Flop" will be expanded. Schmier tried discussing payment issues with the rest of the people named in the lawsuit. Perhaps his unsuccessful attempt urged him to drag the said people into the lawsuit.

Tarek and Christina El Moussa have yet to release a statement explaining their side. HGTV has also been made aware of the lawsuit, but a representative from the company kept mum about it when asked to comment.

More updates should arrive soon.
